A "shocker spring," or shock absorber spring, is a helical coil of metal, usually steel, that stores and releases energy in a vehicle's suspension system to absorb impacts and vibrations from the road. Working in conjunction with a shock absorber, the spring compresses to store the energy from bumps and then expands to return the vehicle to its normal position, while the shock absorber dissipates the energy as heat to damp oscillations and provide a smoother ride
